Why do I need to register my animal?
The Veterinary Surgeons Act (1966) states that veterinary physiotherapy (and other alternative therapies) must be performed under direct referral from your veterinarian. However, many veterinary surgeries understand the benefit of physiotherapy and kindly consent to physiotherapy if requested and where appropriate. Your veterinary surgery retains the right to decline physiotherapy, and commonly physiotherapy will not be allowed if the animal in question has not been seen by their vet within the last 6 months. There are no circumstances where physiotherapy may be classed as an emergency without your veterinarian first attending the animal. Your veterinarian and reception team are very busy, for this reason please leave sufficient time (minimum of one week) for permission to be requested prior to your first appointment.
